People have been designing speakers in different shapes to optimize the sound for years, but a stand that does the same is a little more rare. This iPad stand is supposed to help optimize the sound purely by the design of the stand itself. It doesn’t have any extra electronic gimmicks, just a well thought out design.
Honestly, it’s nice to see someone thinking about the shape, material and design of the item before they start thinking about easy shortcuts. Things like throwing in a cheap set of speakers instead of adding a few handy holes would make it just another accessory. However, by being a little different this one is going to stand out more. It’s made using lacquer over ippe and maple veneer. The Unique Artistic Functional Wood iPod Dock/Stand may have to longest name ever created, but at least it’s somewhat affordable.
